I’ve been listening to this album a lot trying to figure out what the fuck is going on. Produced entirely by M Mac this EP is utterly fucking ridiculous. Using the modern obsession with all things trap as a starting point, M Mac jumps off and makes a based/wavy/whatever spin on the sound while Nolely Nole just says the most ridiculous things in the one of the most annoying voices in hip hop, but goddamn if it isn’t compulsive and propulsive making you want to throw a drink at someone’s $300 shoes and then take a swing at their crew.
Nolely Nole’s voice is easy to get over, as he’s funny without being overly clownish or too clever for his own good. His cadence mimic’s Danny Brown at times but he is also his own man with his affected slurring on “Magical.”
“Magical” is THE track on this project as it switches direction and becomes a chopped-the-fuck-up drum loop that stabs me right in the same pleasure centers that early Jungle does.
It’s super easy to dismiss this as some trend jump bullshit combining trap and post-based raps with some stylistic flourishes but this is some bloodclot brain rot bullshit that jumps up and down right on my brain like some kind of pure uncut SRA. Popped a Nolely and I’m sweatin’. Woo.
